All eyes on Lecce and Marsicovetere for #EuroVolleyU18M
CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship 2020
Lecce/Marsicovetere, Italy, September 4, 2020. The 2020 edition of #EuroVolleyU18M will get underway on Saturday, September 5, and run in the Italian cities of Lecce and Marsicovetere until September 13, 2020. The ‘Azzurrini’ representing Italy contest their Pool I matches in Marsicovetere, along with the national teams of Turkey, Bulgaria and Belgium. Pool II matches are taking place in Lecce, Apulia and will feature Belarus, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland. Live streaming of all matches will be available on the official YouTube channel of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV).
The tournament is the result of the hard work and efforts made by FIPAV and CEV, with much support provided by the local Organising Committees and the authorities of the respective host cities and regions. This team effort will help deliver an event in full compliance with the current health and hygiene rules, with strict protocols designed by both FIPAV and CEV to ensure the well-being of everyone associated with the tournament.
The main purpose is to help restart international activities and send a message of hope to the wider Volleyball community, with the health of players, officials and staff as the top priority.
The matches will be taking place behind closed doors, but fans will be able to follow all of the action through the YouTube channel of the Italian Volleyball Federation, with live commentary available for the matches involving Team Italy.
On Saturday, the matches Germany vs. Belarus and Czech Republic vs. Poland will get action underway in Lecce, with Belgium vs. Bulgaria opening the programme of Pool I in Marsicovetere followed by the fixture where the ‘Azzurrini’ will be playing Turkey.
The top six teams from the final standing will secure their participation in next year’s FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship.
