The region around Bakuriani is famous for the surrounding forests. The resort lies 30km from Borjomi. Bakuriani is the most known skiing resort in Georgia; it has been a fancy destination since the 50s and remains extremly popuar among locals and foreign tourists as well. Shortly after the European Tour stop, Bakuriani will be hosting also the Georgian Snow Volleyball national championship.
