Snow Volleyball in Moscow – A party on and off the court…
CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 - Moscow

Moscow, Russia, December 24, 2018. The historic Snow Volleyball tournament held last week in Moscow was not only a competition featuring some of the best Snow Volleyball players in Europe and from overseas as well. The organisers wished to deliver much more than just a sporting event – making the tournament a real party celebrating winter, Snow Volleyball, and Christmas as well.

This is why next to some close and exciting matches, players and fans alike could enjoy a number of side events too, including a truly unique photo exhibition recounting the history of Snow Volleyball in Russia (click here for more details).

Ded Moroz or Father Frost, the ‘Russian Santa Claus’, and his grad-daughter Snegoruchka were in charge of distributing presents to the fans following the competition held at the iconic Vodny stadium in the Russian capital.

There was also an exhibition where local artisans displayed their homemade products, all focussing on a winter theme. As players and fans were enduring freezing temperatures, the organisers provided those in attendance on the stands as well as those competing on snow with hot drinks. To follow Russian traditions, they could take hot tea straight from a samovar, a container used to heat and boil water in Russia. Two huge samovars were at hand for people to get some hot tea to stand the challenging temperatures and weather conditions in the Russian capital – and to continue to enjoy the Snow Volleyball party to the fullest.
