Knack hope to celebrate historic achievement with home win in CEV Cup semis

Roeselare, Belgium, March 11, 2016. On Tuesday, March 15 Knack ROESELARE will be hosting Germany’s BERLIN Recycling Volleys for the first round of the semis in the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. The hosts are quite evidently vying for a victory not only to get the edge for the return game which is due to follow four days later in Germany’s capital but also to put the icing on the cake as they play their match no. 200 in the European Cups.
The local fans can still recall memories from European match no. 100 when the ‘Blue Boys’ played Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia some years ago. Knack ROESELARE would like to continue their good tradition in the European Cups by claiming a home victory over the Germans but they know that this is easier said than done.
Captain Hendrik Tuerlinckx (pictured) says: “We would like to claim a victory to celebrate such historic night and achievement in the best way. However, we have to be honest: the BERLIN Recycling Volleys have a very good team, with a great history. At this moment they are leading the standing of the German national league with a margin of four points on their closest competitor. A victory will only be possible if every player of Knack ROESELARE will be performing at his best. We do not think yet about the return match that will be played in Germany. We take every game as it comes. Since November we have been playing every weekend and during the week as well and because the Playoffs of the Belgian national league start this week, this tight schedule will continue till the end of the season. This is very demanding both physically and mentally. But let there be no doubt: we are still very hungry and want to win more!”
Coach Emile Rousseaux speaks the same respectful language. “As we had to fit in a new setter, this season was considered to be a transitionary one. But look: we won the Belgian cup, are just about to start the Playoffs of our national league and are in the semi-finals of the CEV Cup! One would like to think that this happens effortlessly and that we consequently will beat BERLIN just like that. Well, we know it better! The BERLIN Recycling Volleys are a top team! Do not forget they produced a clear win in the Challenge Round after being beaten 3-1 in Finland by ValePa SASTAMALA. This shows they have a lot of potential and determination! We can only beat them if we all have a good day and produce our best Volleyball. Anything less than that and it is game over. However, our team has shown already several times this year that they can cope with difficult situations.”
Once again the spectators in Roeselare will be the winners because they will be witnessing, yet again, a very exciting game!
