Stoytchev and Birarelli set the tone for terrific clash of the giants in CEV Cup finals
2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Trento, Italy, April 6, 2015. Only 24 hours away from their home match with Russia’s Dinamo MOSCOW, the coach and team captain of Energy T.I. Diatec TRENTINO got the chance to share with the local media their expectations ahead of the first round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men finals. After playing at home on Tuesday night, TRENTINO will then fly to Russia for the ‘grand finale’ which is set to follow on Saturday.
“The Russians have a strong team and I know most of their players very well,” said Radostin Stoytchev. “They have a roster with many options and therefore they are the favourites going into these finals. In order to win against Dinamo it won’t be enough to ‘knock out’ one of their star players because they are all strong not only in their side out, but also in every single fundamental of the game. We are ready to fight as we always do and we will be doing our best, knowing that we have to go beyond our possibilities in order to hope for a positive result. I hope that our fans will understand our commitment and the importance of this match, showing up in large numbers to support us and create a nice atmosphere in the arena. As far as we are concerned, we will play with maximum concentration and passion.”
“This is going to be a high-level match but of course you can’t expect anything different at the end of the competition,” said team captain Emanuele Birarelli. “At this stage of the CEV Cup you can meet and play teams that may perform well also in the Champions League. Dinamo MOSCOW is one of the strongest teams in Russia and so we expect a difficult task. We are going to write a new chapter in the rivalry between our teams. We played each other a few times already and we always fought for glory in the most important European competitions,” Birarelli recalled, as TRENTINO and Dinamo MOSCOW crossed their ways, inter alia, in the final match of the 2010 CEV Volleyball Champions League at the Atlas Arena in Lodz.
