Barkom-Kazhany expect full house for CEV Cup home debut
2018 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Lviv, Ukraine, November 21, 2017. Ukraine’s Barkom-Kazhany LVIV will be hosting on Wednesday night Israel’s Maccabi TEL-AVIV in a matchup scheduled for the 32nd Finals of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. The match will take place at Galychyna sports hall in Lviv, starting at 7 pm local time.
The head coach of Barkom-Kazhany, Ugis Krastins expects his side to perform well. “We have been working hard in order to show a good performance in the match with Maccabi,” he said. “We have recruited some players who have worn the shirt of the Ukrainian national team, so our team can count on some international experience as well.”
Barkom-Kazhany are making their second straight appearance in the CEV Cup. Last year they first claimed a historic home victory (3-1) over Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD of Serbia before losing the re-match in three sets and the golden set as well – as a result, they failed to progress to the 16th Finals.
As for Maccabi, they represent one of the most successful sports clubs in Europe and are the Israeli reigning national champions. Last year, they progressed to the quarterfinals of the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup where they lost to Turkey’s Galatasaray ISTANBUL. Their roster includes a number of foreigners, also Brazilians. Maccabi arrived in Lviv on Tuesday and had a first practice at the venue of Wednesday’s game.
The organisers in Lviv expect a full house and many fans will turn out to support the home side. The return match will take place in Israel on November 28.
