38 National Federations entered the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men (not including those in the Small Countries Division.

  Poland will organise the Final Round of the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men and is therefore directly qualified to it.

The 6 highest placed teams in the final standing from the previous edition (not already qualified as the organiser) are also directly qualified to the Final Round (FRA, SLO, ITA, BUL, RUS & SRB).

1st Round
With 38 teams registering for this European Championship, 12 will compete in three 1st Round tournaments consisting of 4 teams.

The three 1st placed teams and the two 2nd placed teams with the best score will qualify to the 2nd Round.

The 1st Round dates are scheduled to be the: 19th – 22nd May 2016.

2nd Round
24 teams will compete in the 2nd Round, where each pool of 4 teams will play two tournaments.

The 1st placed teams of each pool (A-B-C-D-E-F) qualify directly for the Final Round.

The 2nd placed teams of each pool (A-B-C-D-E-F) qualify for the 3rd Round.

The 2nd Round dates are scheduled to be the: 15th - 18th September 2016 and 22nd – 25th September 2016.

3rd Round
The 2nd placed teams of the 6 pools in the 2nd Round will play one home and one away match to determine the 3 winners who will then subsequently be qualified through to the Final Round.

The 3rd Round period for matches is the 1st-9th October 2016.

FINAL Round
16 teams will compete in the Final Round in Poland.  The dates and venues are still to be determined.
