Highly successful CEV Satellite Laholm opens new era for Beach Volleyball in Sweden
2017 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Laholm

Laholm, Sweden, July 10, 2017. Sunshine, lots of spectators, happy players… The local organisers of the first CEV women’s Satellite tournament to have taken place in Sweden, made history in Laholm. The President of the Swedish Volleyball Federation, Saffet Eraybar, could not hide his enthusiasm after the last ball hit the sand in Mellbystrand – the longest beach in Sweden.

“The local staff delivered an outstanding event. It is their effort, which made this event so memorable for all of us. Of course, we hope the CEV will consider a comeback of the European Tour next year,” said Eraybar.

The Tournament Director, former Beach Volleyball player Karin Lundqvist, was very happy with the four days in the sunshine. “To have this kind of event means a lot for the sport in Sweden and the CEV Satellite tournament has opened up the eyes for Laholm and the whole region. In my opinion, it is a huge success. And it definitely helps that we had sunny weather of course.”

The CEV Technical Supervisor Valeriya Romanovich from Azerbaijan was positive for a repeat of a CEV Satellite tournament in Laholm and Sweden. “The atmosphere has been fantastic these days and for being a first-time tournament we are very happy to see that the outcome has exceeded our expectations. The organisers have put in a big effort in trying to fulfil all of our demands.”
