Thurins bid farewell to CEV Satellite Laholm
2017 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Laholm

Laholm, Sweden, July 8, 2017. Susanna and Kristina Thurin were the last Swedish team alive in the competition at the CEV Satellite Laholm but they had to bid farewell to the home fans after losing on Saturday their matchup with Germany’s Sandra Ittlinger and Teresa Mersmann 0-2 (15-21, 16-21) in 29 minutes.

The twin sisters Kristina and Susanna Thurin, 24, from Sollentuna, Sweden's best-ranked team in Beach Volleyball, could not pose a real threat to Ittlinger and Mersmann and finished their home campaign in ninth place.

“We had a hard time to play on the centre court today. It was very windy and unpredictable. We had a hard time to predict the trajectory of the ball. We could have pushed with the serve a little bit more. They played at a very high level and very aggressively. It is a style of playing that we are not so used to on the Swedish Beach Tour,” said Susanna Thurin.

The Thurins already had a ninth place from the European Tour – last year they finished ninth at the CEV Satellite Kisakallio in Finland.

“It feels good that we are committed to playing at this level now. Our plan is to establish ourselves on the European Tour and it is amazing that we have this competition in Sweden, so we enjoyed this opportunity to play on home soil. Now we just want to play more,” says Kristina Thurin full of enthusiasm.
