CEV announce two changes to 2017 Beach Volleyball calendar
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, April 26, 2017. The CEV have confirmed two changes to an already busy Beach Volleyball season with the first historic CEV Satellite event set to take place on Hungarian soil – actually sand – turning into a double-gender tournament while the local organisers have announced that one of three Masters scheduled for the summer of 2017 has been moved from Ankara to Alanya.

The women’s only Masters scheduled for July 13-16 will take place at Cleopatra Beach in Alanya. The Turkish city is no stranger on the international Beach Volleyball map since it played host to age-group World Championships in both 2009 and 2010 as well as to the final stage of the inaugural men’s CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup – an Olympic qualifying event held in 2012 where Norway booked a spot to compete at the London Olympics.

The city of Siofok in Hungary will host a double-gender CEV Satellite on that same weekend, thus further raising the profile of the first major international event to take place in Hungary. “After working on the organisation of this event for a few months, we unanimously came to the decision to make a double-gender tournament out of it,” said Agnes Banki, the Head of the Beach Volleyball Department at the Hungarian Volleyball Federation. “We already feel the excitement resulting from bringing an international Beach Volleyball competition to the shores of Lake Balaton. It will take some efforts since we organise an event of this calibre for the very first time but we are planning to provide a unique experience for players and fans alike.”
