13/08/2016 22:23 Semi-finalists determined at #EuroBeachVolleyU18 2016 CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship Brno, Czech Republic, August 13, 2016. The 2016 CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship is slowly but surely reaching its climax. The eventual semi-finalists were determined on Saturday in Brno. Home favourites Marie-Sara Stochlova and Martina Maixnerova were joined in the semis by Russia’s Olga Kozhadey/Elena Fediunova of Russia, Germany’s Svenja Müller/Hanna Viemann and Serbia’s Tijana Basic/Irena Drobnjak. 2015 gold medallists Timothée Platre/Rémi Bassereau of France are still in contention for back-to-back titles in the men’s competition and in the semis will play Russia’s Vasilii Ivanov and Sergey Gorbenko. In the other semi-final, Germany’s Lukas Pfretzschner/Robin Sowa will take on Italy’s Jakob Windisch/Paolo Cappio. Platre/Bassereau look determined to try and retain the title they won last year in Riga. On their way to the semis, the Frenchmen delivered a real show of strength in their matchup with Spain’s Pablo Perez/Jordi Ramon which they won at a canter (21-15, 21-11). The local fans are already very much looking forward to the women’s semi where Stochlova and Maixnerova will play Viemann and Müller. Stochlova will be trying to improve on the bronze medal she won last year in Riga along with Tereza Kotlasova. The championship has run under ideal weather conditions so far and the players as well as the supporters are enjoying the refreshments and food stands prepared by the local organisers which are situated right by the venue. The players can also chill out in a nice relaxing area and play mini-football if they wish to do so.
