Brno is the heart of South Moravia and the capital of the region which has almost 1,1 million inhabitants. After Prague (the capital city) it is the second largest city in the Czech Republic with a population of almost 400.000. Strategically located in Central Europe, Brno has excellent accessibility, including an international airport.
Dominant sights of the city include Spilbert castle and fortress and St. Peter and Paul´s Cathedral on Petrov Hill. Brno is a traditional centre of industry and trade. Sokolske koupaliste is a well known Beach Volleyball venue on the shore of the Brno dam, having hosted a series of International events in the past including a FIVB Challenger, the CEV U23 and U18 European Championships and MEVZA U18 and U20 events.
Parallel to the CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship there will be big musical festival on Veveri Castle (12-13 August).
