Europe’s rising Beach Volleyball stars gathering in Brno for #EuroBeachVolleyU18
2016 CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship
Brno, Czech Republic, August 9, 2016. The 2016 edition of the CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship will start this coming Thursday, August 11 in Brno. As many as 32 teams per gender – including a total of six tandems from the Czech Republic – are set to compete in the second largest city of the Czech Republic, where the event returns after Brno hosted the 2012 edition of this championship. The expectations are high especially for Martina Maixnerova and Marie-Sara Stochlova who earlier this summer stole the show at the U18 national championship as well as for Matyas Dzavoronok/Jiri Sedlak. Apart from following the actions of many rising Beach Volleyball stars, the fans can look forward to a number of side events that will be organised at the venue of the tournament.
Beach Volleyball is returning to Brno after in early July the city played host to the U18 Czech national championship. “There have already been many international events held in Brno and I honestly must say that they were all crowned with success,” says Jan Meruna of the Czech Volleyball Federation. “The support provided by the city of Brno is very important for the delivery of these events.”
Beach Volleyball fans can look forward to witnessing the actions of many
rising stars, including as many as six Czech duos. Apart from the
aforementioned Maixnerova/Stochlova and Dzavoronok/Sedlak, the Czech
hopes of home glory will be carried by Tadeas Tezzele/Jakub Rulisek,
Patrik Manas/Marek Holecek, Tereza Balakova/Lucie Pokorna and Julie
Honzovicova/Karin Zolnercikova. Stochlova won a bronze medal at last
year’s U18 European Championship in Riga, Latvia together with Tereza
Kotlasova.
A number of side events will run in conjunction with the tournament – dance shows, contests organised by the sponsors as well as gastronomic events. Kids will have the opportunity to join an ad-hoc designed tournament which will come to an end – similarly to the major championship – on Sunday when the eventual winners will be crowned. Admission to the venue will be free of charge for the entire duration of the championship.
