Competition Formula

The competition format of the 2018-2020 edition follows the below basic principles:

• Each Federation participates with two (2) teams per gender.

• The Competition will be divided into three (3) phases with the 1st phase starting in 2019.

• The organiser of the Final Phase will be qualified directly to the Final.

• The top eight (8) National Federations from the CEV Country Ranking as of September 30, 2018 will move directly to the 2nd phase, in order to provide a more even level of competition in the 1st and 2nd phase.

• The Final Phase will be organised as one 16 NFs event per gender in 2020 without NFs/athletes having already qualified a spot for their National Federations via the FIVB Olympic Ranking/ FIVB World Championships.

UPDATE as of 09 March 2021:

The CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup 2nd Phase and Final are scheduled for May and June 2021 respectively following the postponment of the Tokyo Olympic Games due to the coronavirus pandemic.
