Bettystown Beach is located in County Meath, on the East Coast of
Ireland 40km north of Dublin City Centre. For several years, the Beach
has hosted a key leg of the Volleyball Ireland National Beach Tour
attracting players from across the country. The venues picturesque
village always proves popular with players and spectators alike which is
well serviced with accommodation, café’s and restaurants. The lengthy
and impressive coastline will provide a scenic back drop to the Beach
Volleyball action. The sprawling sand dunes will create a natural
environment for the June Bank Holiday event.
Volleyball Ireland
has been developing close links with local schools in the Bettystown
area, developing introductory programmes in partnership with the Meath
County Council Sports Partnership. This work will continue through the
CEV Schools Project as the Federation looks to sustain a strong legacy
of Volleyball in Meath, ensuring benefits to the sport post-Continental
Cup.
Volleyball Ireland are delighted to host their first
Continental Cup and Olympic Qualifying event. President of Volleyball
Ireland, Grainne Culliton said, “Bringing International events to
Ireland is a key part of our strategy to grow, develop and promote the
sport. The profile of this event will help us inspire new players to the
sport. We are incredibly excited to host such a prestigious event.”
