Mersin is a large city and a port on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey and it is an important hub of Turkey's economy.Turkey's largest seaport is located in the city. Mersin's nickname within Turkey is "Pearl of the Mediterranean" (Turkish: Akdeniz'in Incisi) and the city hosted the 2013 Mediterranean Games, 2014 and 2015 Turkish Beach Volleyball Pro Beach Tour events in the past. As of 2014, the population of the city is 1,071,703.

CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite tournament will be the first CEV event in Mersin this July. Center court matches will be held at Mersin Marina Shopping Mall’s Anfi-Theater which has tribunes with top cover. Local host Mersin Metropolitan Municipality (Mersin Büyüksehir Belediyesi) highly motived to organize more international Beach Volleyball events in Mersin.
