Flash info:
Latvia’s most popular seaside resort, the city of Jurmala will host for the very first time this summer the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Final, i.e. the continental most prestigious event in the sport, in a purpose-built stadium on the sandy beach of Majori. All of the top Beach Volleyball players in Europe will compete in Jurmala for the fictional title of “Europe’s Kings and Queens of the Beach”.
“We believe that Jurmala is one of the most beautiful Beach Volleyball venues in the Baltic countries and we are proud that the CEV has given us the possibility to host such an event,” said Mr Janis Upenieks. The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science, Chairman of the Culture and Science Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia continued: “Latvia is a European Beach Volleyball superpower. It is a great honour for Latvia and a great responsibility for the tournament organisers that this year the European champions will be crowned on the sandy beach of Jurmala. The European Championship Final is an event that definitely confirms the prestige of our country, and it will inscribe the name of Latvia in bold letters on the world’s Beach Volleyball map.”
