Snow Volleyball European Tour stop underway in Georgia
CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 - Bakuriani

Bakuriani, Georgia, February 15, 2019. The third stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 started on Friday in Bakuriani, Georgia’s most popular ski resort. The teams due to compete later this weekend have all found their way to Bakuriani and snow fell on Friday to provide perfect conditions for the tournament. It is the second straight year that a European Tour event takes place in Bakuriani and the organisers have worked hard for the successful delivery of the tournament, with matches due to be taking place under floodlights as well.

Teams from as many as nine countries contest the tournament in Georgia, including many of those that won medals at the previous stops held in Moscow and Erciyes.

The competition started on Friday morning with the men’s qualification and teams from Russia and Turkey making it through. Russia had a bye while Turkey beat Italy 2-0. The team from Turkey, after securing their spot in the Main Draw, delivered a masterclass for children from local schools, who had much fun with their ‘new teachers’.

The tournament resumes on Saturday with 12 teams per gender and the medals will be at stake on Sunday when the final matches will deliver the climax of the tournament.
