Teams from Italy and Russia secure Main Draw spot at Mount Erciyes
CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 - Erciyes

Erciyes/Kayseri, Turkey, January 11, 2019. The second stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 started on Friday at Mount Erciyes, Turkey – the country’s fifth-highest peak at 3,917 m – where a Snow Volleyball event of this calibre is taking place for the third straight year.

The tournament began on Friday with the men’s qualification round, with Italian and Russian teams progressing to the Main Draw. None of the Turkish teams contesting the qualification round was able to make it to the Main Draw, with all of these players taking on Snow Volleyball for the first time in their careers.

Italy’s Di Risio/Amorosi/Marinucci/Sasso needed two sets only to beat their Turkish opponents Akdoğan/Kaplan/Kaynak/Kaynak with a 15-11 and 15-12 score.

Erci/Ayan/Firat/Ertas played against Shabalin/Polikarpov/Markov/Kayumov. The silver medal winners from last December’s European Tour stop in Moscow stormed to a 2-0 win (15-11, 16-14) to secure their spot in the Main Draw.

A wonderful view of Mount Erciyes and of the venue hosting the Snow Volleyball European Tour event.

This concluded the opening day of competition at Mount Erciyes, Kayseri. With all teams and match-ups set for the Main Draw, there is an exciting programme awaiting players and fans on Saturday.

As for Sunday, live streaming of the two gold medal matches starting at 13 local time (11 am CET) will be available on EuroVolleyTV.
