Snow Volleyball back on top in Erciyes, Turkey
CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 - Erciyes

Erciyes, Turkey, January 11, 2019. This year’s first CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour event starts on Friday at Mount Erciyes, Turkey – the country’s fifth-highest peak at 3,917 m – where a Snow Volleyball event of this calibre is taking place for the third straight year.

The tournament begins on Friday with the men’s qualification round and the players having to cope with challenging weather conditions, including strong winds and snow. Mount Erciyes is one of the top spots for winter sports in Turkey and tourists spending the weekend there can look forward to a couple of exciting days filled with Snow Volleyball.

One Italian, one Russian and three Turkish teams will try to progress to the men’s main draw at the end of the qualification round, with only two spots up for grabs. For many of the Turkish teams this will be their first-ever experience in competing in the snow.

After the introduction of the 3-aside rule, Ruslan Daianov and Taras Myskiv this time will play alongside the young and talented Russian Beach Volleyball player Aleksandr Kramarenko, and try to claim their second straight gold medal in Erciyes, after standing on top of the podium in January 2018.

Myskiv/Daianov were fighting against their opponents and the snow storm last year in Erciyes.

On the other hand, reigning Snow Volleyball European champions Ruslan and Taras will re-unite for the first time since their gold-medal winning performance in Austria to compete at the second stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019 in Erciyes.

The silver and bronze medal winners from the season opener in Moscow will compete on Turkish snow as well. Vitaly Shabalin, Nikolay Polikarpov, Viktor Markov and Adel Kayumov from Kazan, Russia, were the surprise package in Moscow where they only lost in the final to another Russian team featuring the Beach Volleyball star Konstantin Semenov.

A day prior to the tournament, children tried out their Snow Volleyball skills at the venue, spending time together with players set to represent Romania in Erciyes.

TRT will broadcast the women’s and men’s gold medal matches nationwide, with live streaming available on EuroVolleyTV as well for fans from across the globe!
