CEV Vice President pays informal visit to Snow Volleyball event in Disentis
2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour

Disentis, Switzerland, March 13, 2017. CEV Vice President Banu Can Schürmann paid an informal visit to the 2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour event in Disentis, Switzerland. She was quite impressed with the professional organisation and the high-level athletic skills that the snow volleyballers exhibited on the court.

“We came here with the entire family for a day trip and everybody enjoyed it,” said Banu Can Schürmann. “Obviously, watching Snow Volleyball can be a great family activity. I experienced it myself with my husband and my kids and I would recommend it to everyone who wants to enjoy some family fun out in the open. Being in the mountains is fantastic, the sunny weather is just perfect, the atmosphere - with the music and the many happy people – is exhilarating, and everybody loves it!”

The CEV Vice President was heartily welcomed by Veit Manninger (pictured together), Managing Director at Chaka2, the company that has been promoting Snow Volleyball since 2009 and is organising five of the events on the 2017 CEV European Tour. “We are quite honoured to have Ms. Schürmann and her family among the spectators at this event,” he said. “It also gives me an opportunity to once again express my satisfaction with the fact that the CEV and Chaka2 are now working together towards the success of Snow Volleyball.”

“We have a variety of spectators – tourists, skiers, locals – and a great audience turnover during the day. This way we reach more people,” commented the CEV Vice President. “It is recreational, but it is a very serious competition, at the same time. Now that the European Tour is an official CEV competition it helps for the wider popularisation of Snow Volleyball and, with our joint efforts with Chaka2, the sport is growing really fast.”

This time the Schürmanns took a trip to Snow Volleyball from Liechtenstein, but very soon, Snow Volleyball will return the visit.

“In three weeks we will welcome the European Tour to Liechtenstein, in Malbun”, said Banu Can Schürmann. “We are very excited about it and I hope we will have an event just as nice as the one here, in the Swiss Alps.”

Malbun is the sixth stop out of the total seven on the 2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour. The tournament in the tiny Alpine principality will take place on April 1 and 2.
