Last year’s King and Queens top CEV Snow Volleyball rankings before Disentis
2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour

Luxembourg, March 8, 2017. The CEV have published the European Snow Volleyball individual rankings for men and for women, updated after the first three stops of the 2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour. The 2016 King and Queens of the Snow are still topping the two tables.

The CEV Snow Volleyball Ranking is calculated by adding each athlete’s Snow Volleyball ranking points earned over the past 365-day period, thus including the events from the 2016 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour.

Poland’s Michal Matyja, who won the 2016 ‘King of the Snow’ title and finished with a silver medal at the 2017 Špindlerův Mlýn tournament, is holding the top spot in the men’s ranking with 310 points. Matyja will get a chance to extend his lead this coming weekend, as he will be playing at the fourth stop of this year’s European Tour – in Disentis, Switzerland. His former partner and current Špindlerův Mlýn champion Robert Kufa from the Czech Republic comes in second place with 250 points. The third position is shared by four players – Robert’s brother and 2017 teammate David Kufa, Austria’s Florian Schnetzer and two snow volleyballers from Turkey - Murat Giginoglu and Safa Urlu, each with 180 points.

After two silver medal finishes, in Špindlerův Mlýn and Wagrain-Kleinarl, and a golden triumph at home, in Kronplatz / Plan de Corones, the Italian duo Greta Cicolari & Giulia Toti crowned their 2016 season with the ‘Queens of the Snow’ title and, despite not playing on the snow in 2017, they are still leading the women’s ranking with 260 points each. Slovakia’s Silvia Poszmikova with 230 points completes the top three. She won gold at Špindlerův Mlýn 2016, and has one third and one fifth-place finish in 2017 so far.
