Volleyball, snow, entertainment & mountains to take centre stage soon...
2016 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour
Luxembourg, March 10, 2016. The first ever CEV tournament combining Volleyball, snow and breath-taking mountains is ready to entertain athletes and passionate spectators this coming weekend in the Czech Republic. The first stop of the 2016 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour will be held this Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13 in the Czech most popular ski areal Špindlerův Mlýn, which has already played host to a number of other major sporting events. The winter sports area is situated on an altitude comprised between 702 and 1,235 m.
This lovely town offers unusual natural heritage in the heart of the so-called Giant Mountains (Krkonoše National Park), which include the highest peaks in the Czech Republic. It offers 25 km of downhill slopes, five cable cars and 11 ski tows, as well as 85 km of cross-country routes. The bottom part of Svatý Petr lift station is the location of the Snow Volleyball event which is going to provide the setting for a memorable kick-off of the first ever tournament of this kind officially sanctioned by the CEV.
32 men’s and 16 women’s teams are ready to fight for the fictional title of ‘King of the Snow’ & ‘Queen of the Snow’ and overall prize money standing at 800 EUR per gender. Matches will be contested in a best of three sets format, with each set played up to 11 points. This year’s official ball supplier is Mikasa and so MIKASA VLS300 balls will be used at each stop of the tour.
Apart from high-quality Volleyball actions, the spectators will have the opportunity to take part in numerous side events and activities right nearby the main venue prepared by premium national partners. Amway have organised entertaining sports activities for spectators during the whole weekend. The perfect combination of sport and fun is exactly what describes this brand and their NUTRILITE tent will be set up next to the centre court. Bubbleology is another brand that will take care of the players’ and spectators’ well-being. They will be presenting their products in a colourful tent at the venue.
The local Snow Volleyball shop will offer nice souvenirs and giveaways that will remind participants of the amazing time they will spend in the Czech Republic. Everybody present at the event will have the opportunity to take a picture with the Snow Volleyball Instagram Frame and thus get an extra souvenir of their experience as well. If you are crazy enough to watch the matches directly from the whirlpool, don’t forget to take your swimsuit!
