Kids Festival sets tone for historic European Tour event in Tsakhkadzor
News from the National Federations
Tsakhkadzor, Armenia, February 2, 2020. With a truly historic stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour due to get underway on Monday, Armenia’s most popular ski resort – Tsakhkadzor – enjoyed some sort of a ‘warm up’ with the delivery of a Kids Snow Volleyball Festival on Sunday. The event featured primarily pupils from the local school no. 188 who learned the basics of the game under the guidance of the reigning ‘Queen of the Snow’, Olga Motrich of Russia.
Motrich and Italian Snow Volleyball player Giorgio Amorosi shared with the kids all of their knowledge of the game, spending quite some time also teaching the pupils individually. The kids showed much enthusiasm for the experience and the day quickly went by with many happy faces and a feeling of positive energy on and off the court as well. The pupils received balls provided by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia so that they can continue to train and work at home and at school too – thus keeping alive their interest for the game.
The Snow Volleyball party in Tsakhkhadzor will continue with the European Tour stop featuring 18 men’s and seven women’s teams due to run from February 3 to 5. Earlier this week, the same resort played host to the first zonal Snow Volleyball event organised by the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) with teams from Russia and Armenia claiming top honours from the women’s and men’s competition, respectively.
