SNOWMAN
Presenting Snow Volleyball star Giorgio Amorosi

Giorgio Amorosi was born in Lanciano, Italy on May 12, 1979. At the impressive age of 40, the 185-cm-tall Italian athlete, placing fifth in the individual CEV European Entry Ranking, is currently competing at the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour stop in Armenia. Last season team captain Amorosi and his Italian teammates took part in all European Tour and World Tour stops, with the fourth place at the last CEV tournament, in St. Anton, Austria, as their best result. At the home snow World Tour stop at Kronplatz / Plan de Corones, where Amorosi’s squad participated with a wild card, they finished fifth after a memorable come-from-behind victory over the Brazilian team, featuring the likes of legendary Giba and Marcio Araujo.

Giorgio Amorosi: “My name is Giorgio Amorosi and I come from Vasto, a city rich in history, culture and incredible landscapes, but poor in snow. The only suitable place is the beach, where we train intensely in all weather conditions. I started playing Volleyball at the age of 17, although my true passion has always been Beach Volleyball. I have played in many tournaments both in Italy and abroad. I turned my passion into work and now I am a coach and I have a Volleyball and Beach Volleyball company in Vasto. When I saw the first social media images of Snow Volleyball I said, ‘these guys are crazy!’ I saw it live for the first time, when some of my friends played at the Roccaraso stop on the CEV European Tour two years ago, and I started thinking, ‘if they can do it, I can do it too!’

Last year, together with my friends, I played at all the tournaments of the international circuits, starting almost always from the qualifications, and game after game, with many sacrifices and lots of commitment, we climbed the ranking. My strongest and most exciting Snow Volleyball memory is the victory over Brazil at Plan de Corones.  If I can dream up two gifts that I would give to myself and my teammates, these would be a medal and a chance to play Snow Volleyball at the Winter Olympics.”
