CEV announce Snow Volleyball European Tour calendar for 2020
CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2020

Luxembourg, November 14, 2019. Winter is approaching at a very fast pace – actually the first snow has already fallen in a number of countries – and it is that time of the year where Snow Volleyball is ready to take centre stage! As many as six events feature in the current programme of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2020 – the fifth time this takes place since its inception back in 2016. To testify the increasing appeal of the sport and its continuous growth, a couple of countries will be hosting an event of this calibre for the very first time in history.

Moreover, Snow Volleyball will feature prominently as part of the celebrations, mass-participation events and competitions organised for the 2020 FIS World Snow Day on January 19.

Back to the European Tour, Armenia and Slovakia will be hosting a stop for the first time in history, with Tsakhkadzor in Armenia, one of the most popular health resorts in the Caucasus country, delivering the season opener on February 3-5 followed by an event in neighbouring Georgia. The winter ski resort of Bakuriani plays host to the European Tour for the third straight year and the event on Georgian snow will run from February 7-9, 2020.

The CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour will return to St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria, for the second straight year.

After co-hosting a record-breaking edition of EuroVolley Women earlier this year, Slovakia will be taking up the next challenge, doing so when hosting a Snow Volleyball European Tour stop at Park Snow Donovaly, in the region of Banska Bystrica, from February 21 to 23. Slovakia have a long and rich history in winter sports and Snow Volleyball has already found its natural ‘home’ there, with two national championships held in 2018 and 2019 in the ski resort of Strbske Pleso.

The second half of the European Tour includes tournaments held at venues that have helped grow this sport from its very early days. Wagrain and St. Anton in Austria are due to welcome Europe’s top Snow Volleyball teams in late March and mid-April, respectively, with the event in Plan de Corones / Kronplatz (Italy) sandwiched in between the two stops in the Austrian Alps.

The Snow Volleyball season will be reaching its climax with the second edition of the CEV EuroSnowVolley, with venue and dates TBC in due course.
