Plan de Corones / Kronplatz, Italy, April 5, 2019. Friday’s main draw action at the Plan de Corones / Kronplatz stop on the 2019 FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour, co-organised with the CEV, has been cancelled due to the weather conditions.
This is the final decision made by the FIVB and the CEV, together with the Technical Delegate, and made with the ultimate consideration of the players’ safety. The initial move was to delay the start of the main draw matches by a couple of hours, but force majeure circumstances of severe weather conditions at the venue on the top of the mountain made holding the matches impossible.
“Athletes’ health is, of course, of highest priority for us,” explained Angelo Squeo, FIVB New Events and Snow Volleyball Director. “With the strong winds and a lot of snow on the ground, the conditions on the courts are very dangerous and the risk of injuries is quite high. So we will start the main draw on Saturday under a different format to allow for completion of the tournament on Sunday as planned.”
The main draw will be conducted under a different format (to be decided), starting at 09:15 local time on Saturday morning at the earliest.
Main draw action at Plan de Corones / Kronplatz centre court will be streamed live on EuroVolley.tv and the CEV Snow Volleyball Facebook page.
