Second Snow Volleyball event at Roccaraso hailed a terrific success!
News from the National Federations

Roccaraso, Italy, February 20, 2019. The Acqua San Bernardo Snow Volley Tour stopped in Roccaraso this past weekend with double as many participants compared to last year’s premiere when the ski resort played host to a CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour event as well. More than a hundred Snow Volleyball players participated in the competition across four different categories, supported by the raucous 2,000-strong audience in attendance at the ski resort of Pizzalto, in the Alto Sangro region.

Antonio Sasso and Marco Daniele from Vasto claimed top honours from the 2 vs 2 men’s competition, after edging Proietti/Torchio in the final. Sopranzetti/Fabietti won the bronze medal.

Federica Tonon and Cristiana Parenzan were the eventual winners of the women’s 2 vs 2 tournament. Parenzan is a gold medal winner from the European Tour stop held in Roccaraso last year. Valeria Giannattasio and Tatiana Fingi won the silver medal, while Claudia Bande and Chiara Camastro managed to claim the last spot of the podium.

Parenzan was the winner of the 2 vs 2 mixed category as well, together with partner Massimo Di Risio. Marco Camilli and Claudia Bande settled for the second place, while Alberto Crivelli and Alessia Pelliccia were the recipients of the bronze medal.

Finally, the mixed 3x3 category (where two men play along with one woman) ended with the victory for the trio consisting of Parenzan/Di Risio/De Felice. Severino Pepe, Domenico Bellini and Sara Bernetti, aka ‘The Followers of Olaf’ claimed second place as Claudio Valle, Mirko Minopoli and Fabiola Zamparini won the bronze medal.

The Acqua San Bernardo Snow Volley Tour hosted a “snow foot volley” game as well, through the cooperation established with Play FootVolley, who brought their discipline on the snow for the first time. Radio Deejay Vertical Tour and CSI Abruzzo were further partners of the event.

The Acqua San Bernardo Snow Volley Tour will now go back to the Alps and more specifically to Alta Badia (BZ), where the next event will be taking place at the Moritzino area and professional Snow Volleyball players will fight for the title of “King and Queen of the Mountains”. The Road to the Grand Finale in Prato Nevoso and the CEV European Tour stop scheduled for March 29-31 at the same venue will continue with events at Monte Zoncolan (UD) on March 9-10 and in Breuil-Cervinia (AO) a week later.

The 5th edition of the Grand Finale in Prato Nevoso (CN) will take place on March 29-31 along with a stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019. This will coincide with the largest Snow Volleyball event of the season, with over 400 players expected from different regions and countries for what the organisers want to be a true Volleyball festival, with a number of side events on the programme such as après-ski, players night skiing, etc.

The Italian Snow Volleyball season, which includes as many as eight events, will end on April 6-7 in Plan de Corones / Kronplatz (BZ), where a FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour event will be taking place for the first time in history on the very same weekend.
