News from the National Federations

Moena, Italy, February 12, 2019. A hundred teams joined the first edition of the Mizuno Snow Volley Marathon in collaboration with Snow Volley Italia, which took place in Moena, Italy. Thanks to the favourable weather and snow conditions, the event was a great success for players and fans alike.

Following a three-day competition, Romana Jurenkova and Kristina Harmanova won the 2x2 women’s tournament. The gold medal of the male 2 vs. 2 was awarded to Diego Fallace and Joshua Kessler, who is very well known in the Italian snow volleyball community as he won the first ever Snow Volley Italian Tournament, organised by Snow Volley Italia in Prato Nevoso back in 2015.

Kessler and his teammates Carucci and Fallace also dominated in the 3 vs. 3 and 4 vs. 4 categories, where they played together with Sveva Capello and Nadir Selva. The Italian trio composed by Valentina Daminelli, Agata Monti and Ilaria Locatelli managed to win the 3 vs. 3 female tournament.

The Mizuno Snow Volley Marathon was organised by Raduni Sportivi, promoter of the famous Beach Volley Marathon of Bibione, and as a stop of the official Acqua San Bernardo Snow Volley Tour, which will continue for the next couple of months in six top ski-resorts in Italy. The next stop will take place on February 16-17 in Roccaraso, followed by Alta Badia on March 2-3, Zoncolan on March 9-10, Cervinia on March 16-17 and finally in Prato Nevoso (CN) on March 29-31 for the Grand Finale, hosting at the same time the fourth stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2019. Prato Nevoso will host the biggest Snow volleyball event of the season, reaching in the past a peak of over 400 players and 200 teams in different categories from 2 vs. 2 until 4 vs. 4 for both genders and even mixed teams, in order to promote this amazing new sport.

The competition in Prato Nevoso this year will feature international guest stars, such as the McKibbin brothers, AVP Beach Volleyball players from USA, and as with the past editions, it will include après-ski, evening parties, side events and night-skiing, as all “Snowers” will receive a free ticket to access the facilities, for what it is aimed to be a big festival on the snow for the whole Volleyball family.

In Italy the Snow Volleyball season will reach its climax April 5-7 with the FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour in Plan de Corones / Kronplatz, an absolute new addition of this year and an unmissable rendez-vous for all Snow Volleyball lovers.
