Uludag to host fourth stop of #SnowVolleyball European Tour
2018 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour
Uludag, Turkey, March 1, 2018. The Turkish ski resort of Uludag will be hosting this week a stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour for the second straight year. The Turkish Volleyball Federation are co-hosting the event together with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa Teleferic A.S. The competition runs from Thursday, March 1 to Sunday, March 4, starting with men’s qualification matches on Thursday.
The men’s Main Draw starts on Friday and the women will take to the court on Saturday. The semis and medal matches for both men and women are due to take place on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
Uludag is hosting the fourth stop of this year’s European Tour after previous events held in Erciyes (Turkey), Roccaraso (Italy) and Bakuriani (Georgia).
The Russian teams are the red-hot favourites of the men’s tournament, as Ruslan Daianov/Taras Myskiv claimed the top honours in Erciyes as well as in Roccaraso while their compatriots Ruslan Bykanov and Maksim Khudyakov were the winners of the event held in Bakuriani last week. Russia’s reigning national champions Yury Bogatov and Pavel Rakusov are also in the mix together with the reigning ‘King of the Snow’, Poland’s Michal Matyja and partner Piotr Janiak. The men’s competition features teams from seven countries, i.e. Belgium, Poland, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
Home stars Bugra Eryildiz and Aleyna Vence are among the medal contenders in the women’s tournament; they are Turkey’s reigning Snow Volleyball national champions as well as the gold and silver medal winners from the European Tour stops in Erciyes and Roccaraso. Reigning ‘Queens of the Snow’ Anna Dostalova and Michaela Knoblochova of the Czech Republic will be chasing their second medal on the European Tour this season after winning bronze in Erciyes, as the competition features teams from Georgia, Romania, Russia and Slovakia as well.
