Luxembourg, January 19, 2017. The 2017 edition of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour will feature as many as eight stops following the addition of two tournaments to the initial schedule announced a few weeks ago. Turkey will play host to two Snow Volleyball events – with Mt. Erciyes and Mt. Uludağ set to welcome Snow Volleyball players and fans as this young, energetic sport grows at a very fast pace.
The 2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour will now get underway on February 17-19 on Mt. Erciyes, one of Turkey’s highest peaks and home to one of the most rapidly growing ski resorts in the country. Mt. Erciyes overlooks the city of Kayseri in Central Anatolia and the organisers have set the ambitious goal of raising its profile and popularity across the winter sports community by hosting a number of major international events. The Snow Volleyball tournament that will take place in mid-February will be one of the highlights among many more events scheduled for the current winter season. The competition will feature a 12-team Main Draw and offer € 2,500 prize money for each gender. 7
The second addition to the programme is the event on Mt. Uludağ, a mountain in Bursa Province, Turkey, with an elevation of 2,543 m. It is a popular centre for winter sports such as skiing, and a national park of rich flora and fauna. Summer activities, such as trekking and camping, are also popular. The tournament on Mt. Uludağ will take place on March 3-5, and again 12 teams per gender will feature in the Main Draw with a total prize money of € 5,000 at stake.
The 2017 edition of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour already featured events in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy to testify the impressive and rapid growth of a sport which is drawing more and more attention from players, fans, sponsors and media alike.
