Obituary – CEV Supervisor Akin Ira (74)

Ankara, Turkey, April 12, 2021. The Volleyball family mourns the death of former international referee and long-time CEV Supervisor Akin Ira, who passed away on Monday morning at the age of 74.
Mr Ira had a long and successful international career as a referee, before he continued to serve the Volleyball family with much dedication and passion in his capacity of CEV Supervisor at many competitions, including matches of the elite CEV Champions League Volley.
On Monday, Mr Ira eventually lost his battle to the novel coronavirus after spending nearly three months in hospital.
The European Volleyball family extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr Ira and to the whole Turkish Volleyball community as well.
