CEV and Albanian Federation to work hand in hand to deliver #EuroVolleyU17M
News from the CEV
Belgrade, Serbia, April 6, 2021. This past Saturday, CEV President Aleksandar Boričić had the pleasure of hosting the President and Secretary General of the Albanian Volleyball Federation, Erlind Pëllumbi and Albens Vokopola, for a meeting focussing on the organisation of this year’s #EuroVolleyU17M in the Balkan country. CEV Board of Administration Member, Zdeslav Barač, who is the Jury President of the event, and Mr Özkan Mutlugil, President of the Development & Cooperation with Zonal Associations Working Group, attended the meeting as well.
With the Volleyball family still dealing with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the CEV authorities and their Albanian partners discussed ways and actions to support the local organisers in their efforts to deliver a successful championship, keeping the same standards as before the health crisis hit the world and accounting for an environment that is safe for all involved.
To this extent, the parties agreed to organise an inspection visit, since the Albanian Federation has proposed to deliver the tournament in two halls in the country’s capital, Tirana. The CEV has confirmed its full support, just as the European Confederation did with other age-group championships held in 2020 after the outbreak of the pandemic, but the city of Tirana and other institutions in Albania are due to help out as well.
Next to this year’s #EuroVolleyU17M, the CEV officials and representatives of the Albanian Volleyball family discussed other future strategic projects for the forthcoming four-year period, with local and national authorities invited to provide their support, next to the unwavering help provided by the CEV. Albania is one of the countries to have signed an agreement with the CEV for the implementation of the School Project, which focuses on the promotion of the game among kids / school pupils in order to grow the next generation of Volleyball players.
