CEV and FIPAV strengthen long-lasting friendship bonds
News from the CEV
Rome, Italy, March 16, 2021. On Tuesday, CEV President Aleksandar Boričić and CEV Senior Vice-President Renato Arena had a series of high-profile meetings in Rome, where they paid a visit to the newly elected leadership of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) around President Giuseppe Manfredi as well as to Italy’s Minister of Economic Development, Mr Giancarlo Giorgetti.
“I wish to congratulate all of you since every single time that I come to Italy I do feel a lot of positive energy,” the CEV President said. “FIPAV is one of the world’s leading national federations, not only for the success that you have achieved on the court but for your outstanding ability to organise major events for national teams and clubs as well. In these very challenging times, the CEV is working hard to provide as much support as possible to all European clubs.”
“It is a pleasure to be with the revamped FIPAV Board of Administration, which includes many good old friends as well as new faces that I will be able to know better with time,” Mr Arena added. “We need to look ahead in order to provide our sport with the best opportunities to grow even further and this can only happen through a continuous and productive dialogue between National Federations and international organisations such as the CEV.”

Later in the afternoon, the CEV and FIPAV delegation had a meeting with the Minister of Economic Development, Mr Giorgetti, himself a Volleyball enthusiast and former member of the Italian Volleyball Federation BoA, who knows European Volleyball very well too for paying a visit to the CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men Finals in Paris. The friendly chat and dialogue revolved around the goal – shared by CEV and FIPAV – to provide as much support as possible to the Volleyball family as it responds to the many challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
