Železničar and Ribnica crowned Serbian Cup winners
News from the National Federations
Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, March 16, 2021. Železničar LAJKOVAC and Ribnica KRALJEVO are the winners of this year’s Serbian national cup competition. Železničar LAJKOVAC claimed the women’s trophy for the third time in their history – to go with previous titles in 2018 and 2019 – as they stormed to a comprehensive 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-19, 25-22) in the match with defending champions ŽOK UB. In the men’s competition, Ribnica defeated Radnički doo KRAGUJEVAC 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 25-23) to secure their first triumph since 1978.
Rada Perović, setter of Železničar, and Ivan Todorović, outside hitter and team captain of Ribnica, were the recipients of the MVP awards.
“Of course, this is a great incentive for us to work even harder. We are so happy that we won the Serbian Cup final against Ub, and I am personally delighted with the MVP award. There is still a slightly bitter taste from losing in the playoffs of the national league, but this is a great consolation for us,” Rada Perović said.
“This is the top of my career, to be honest, and I have won many trophies on the international scene. It feels as if I had won the Olympic gold medal, really,” Todorović commented.

Zoran Gajić, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, and Boban Djurović, Lord Mayor of Vrnjačka Banja, presented the trophies designed for the national cup winners to Aleksandra Gajić and Ivan Todorović, team captains of Železničar and Ribnica, respectively.
Many other representatives of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia as well as of the organisation’s sponsors and partners attended the ceremony that concluded the national cup finals. Earlier this month, the very same arena named after basketball legend Vlade Divac had played host to two European qualifiers, where Bulgaria and Serbia secured their participation in the final stage of this year’s #EuroVolleyU17M and #EuroVolleyU16W, respectively.
