be. by Benjamin Patch | Handmade art for a good cause
News from the clubs
Berlin, Germany, March 3, 2021. Benjamin Patch and the Berlin Recycling Volleys are launching a very special project together: Berlin’s opposite hitter, who just extended his contract with the Berlin team for three more years a week ago, wants to do something good with his art and the German club is supporting him in this process. The exceptional athlete has spent weeks handcrafting works of art for his label “be.” which now will be auctioned to support a good cause. The auction is open to anyone who wants to secure a very personal piece from Patch and runs until March 16 here: http://bit.ly/PotteryAuction__byBenPatch
“In the old days people would share. That was part of who we are.” Starting from this guiding principle, Benjamin Patch founded the art label “be.” last year together with some good friends. This combines various artistic approaches, with pottery being the start-up’s core. “be.” is an expression of love and community. Pottery is an art form that brings people together as we interact with forms that come from the earth. I am happy to share vases of my heart with someone, as we help those in need," says Patch, describing his motivation for the joint art auction with the BR Volleys. The proceeds are to be distributed in full and in equal shares to two institutions.
The club will support the work of the Berlin Stadtmission with a share, while Ben Patch would like to donate any revenues to the UNIONHILFSWERK, which he got to know while working on the BR Volleys charity magazine “Aufschlag aus Überzeugung”. Both institutions work to help those in need in Berlin. “It is exactly this kind of project that we as a club want to promote even more in the future. Ben is an ambassador for our chosen path. The campaign wonderfully harmonises his drive and our social commitment. I hope and wish that this will be very well received by our partners and fans all over the world,” says general manager Kaweh Niroomand, who is enthusiastic about the American player’s initiative.
As many as eight vases will be on offer at the auction. Each work of art is a genuine one-off, sculpted by Benjamin Patch in long hours of handwork. There are vessels with signature in small (25-35 cm) and in large (65-70 cm) size. The creation process for one vase took about two weeks. Accordingly, the 26-year-old hopes for a generous appreciation of his work: “I wish that the vases find beautiful places at fans, partners and art lovers. With the money, we can specifically support institutions that do great work for our society in Berlin.”
The auction will take place via the BR Volleys website, where the current bids will always be displayed. Binding bids can be submitted by e-mail to auktion@br-volleys.de.
