ACH Volley LJUBLJANA secure first place in MEVZA League main round

Vienna, Austria, February 23, 2021. ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) have secured the top spot in the main round of the MEVZA League following an impressive 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-21) win over HAOK Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) on Tuesday evening. Therefore, the defending champions have increased their tally to 27 points from a 9-2 win-loss record. On Wednesday, the ‘Orange Dragons’ and Mladost ZAGREB will clash again in the very last matchup of the regular season.
ACH Volley’s Bozidar Vucicevic was the player of the match after delivering a very strong performance that saw him finishing on 25 points, including two aces and three winning blocks, as Kruno Nikacevic registered eight for Mladost ZAGREB. The match stats underline the superiority of Slovenia’s heavyweight: attack 62% vs 30%, winning blocks 5 vs 4, aces 10 vs 2, reception 65% vs 46% and opponent errors 16 vs 26.
Next to ACH Volley LJUBLJANA, OK Calcit KAMNIK (SLO) and OK Merkur MARIBOR (SLO) as well as hosts Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT) have qualified for the Final Four tournament. The grand finale will take place this coming weekend at the Zwettl sports hall for the second consecutive year!
