Lippmann, Kampa named ‘Players of the Year’ for 2020 in Germany

Münster, Germany, December 21, 2020. For the fourth year in a row, Louisa Lippmann has claimed the award for Germany’s female ‘Player of the Year, with Lukas Kampa picking up the prestigious prize for the fourth time in his career as well. The readers of the respected German publication Volleyball Magazin and its website have cast their votes in an action that has taken place annually since 1979.
Lippmann, 26, who won the bronze medal of the China League with Shanghai on Friday, topped the women’s list with 52% of the votes, way ahead of Pia Kästner on 12%. Only Angelina Hübner-Grün (nine times from 2000 to 2008) and Margareta Kozuch (five times from 2010 to 2014) have received the award more times than Lippmann.

Kampa, 34, currently playing in Poland with Jastrzebski Wegiel, received the award for the male Player of the Year for the first time in 2015 and again in 2017 and 2018 before topping the charts this year again. He edged last year’s winner of the award Moritz Reichert by five percentage points.
