Luxembourg, December 14, 2020. Luciano de Cecco has been playing volleyball at the highest level in Europe for over a decade. Now the Setter of Italian powerhouse Cucine Lube Civitanova, the Argentinian superstar sets out to go far in the CEV Champions League Volley 2021.
Drawn in Pool B, together with Tours VB, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia and Arkas Izmir, Luciano and Civitanova sit top of the Pool after the first tournament that took place in Tours, France, with a maximum of 9 points and only one set lost in their two matches. They will be looking to build on that momentum heading into the second tournament of the 4th Round, scheduled to take place between 9-11 February in Perugia.
The Man Behind the Hands
Luciano De Cecco joined us this week on the Ace Space Podcast - Champions League Special, to talk more about what made him switch teams in Italy, from Perugia to Civitanova, his decision to become a vegan and a lot more.
"All of my friends were telling me...oh, you're going to play like in the NBA (tournament bubble). Everyone knows the situation but we tried to focus, the team played really good. In our first game, against Perugia, we played at a very high level, I think the best game of the season so far, we are happy. Unfortunately Izmir was not able to attend, but for now we are happy and we try for the next tournament to do the same," said Luciano.
