Eda Erdem breaks 750-point mark in #CLVolleyW
CEV Champions League Volley 2021 - Women
Treviso, Italy, December 9, 2020. The charismatic captain of Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL Eda Erdem Dündar returned to taste the feeling of a Champions League fixture on Tuesday, when the Yellow Angels played against VB NANTES of France. Eda had something more than ‘just’ a victory to celebrate, since with her performance, she broke the 750-point mark in such an elite competition with the shirt of Fenerbahce.
The Turkish Volleyball superstar achieved this feat after scoring 12 points (she actually needed three only to break the mark) in the matchup with VB NANTES. She is by far the most successful Fenerbahce player in history, with a collection of 13 trophies as well as plethora of individual awards, including six ‘best middle blocker’ prizes.
“I feel pretty excited that it happened. It is a big moment for myself,” Eda said. “I am happy that we managed to win and get a good start to the group stage of the CEV Champions League. Because starting with a victory is always important and we can now focus on the next Champions League game.”
On Tuesday, Eda played her 76th Champions League fixture with Fenerbahce since her debut in the 2009/2010 season, when the Yellow Angels reached the gold medal match, losing it in dramatic fashion to Volley BERGAMO of Italy.
Fenerbahce are still due to play Calcit Volley KAMNIK of Slovenia and hosts A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO to complete their duties at the first round robin tournament of Pool B held this week at Palaverde in Treviso.
