Turkey’s rising Volleyball stars resume working ahead of 2021 season
News from the National Federations
Istanbul, Turkey, November 20, 2020. The head coach of the Turkish U16 women’s national team, Sahin Catma, has invited as many as 34 young players to a national team camp where they will spend one month together training at TVF Baskent Volleyball Hall in Ankara.
Team Turkey continues to look ahead and work for the 2021 edition of the age-group Balkan Championship, European Championship and World Championship, resorting to a blend of young and more experienced players to build the foundations of a team whose aim remains to win a major tournament.
“It will be good to finish the year with an intensive training camp during which the squad will develop further and where every player has the chance to prove themselves ahead of our upcoming major tournaments. There is a lot of good players here but this camp will give us another excellent opportunity to integrate young promising players with our experienced internationals and align everyone on the team’s long-term vision,” said Catma.
Catma was an assistant coach this past October when Turkey finished second at this year’s U17 European Championship held in Podgorica, Montenegro, after losing the gold medal match to Russia. The next edition of the U16 European Championship is due to take place in the summer of 2021 in Hungary and Slovakia.
