VakifBank enters GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for a second time

Istanbul, Turkey, November 2, 2020. Turkey’s Volleyball standout VakifBank ISTANBUL entered the prestigious Guinness World Records™ for the first time in 2014 for the highest number of consecutive victories across all Volleyball competitions – with that figure standing at an incredible 73. VakifBank recently received such a distinction for a second time for the ‘most wins recorded at the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship’.
VakifBank have as many as three titles from the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship to their name, with such successes coming in 2013, 2017 and 2018, always with a clean sweep of their matches. Moreover, the Turkish team’s resume includes one silver and two bronze medals from the same competition. With those six medals, VakifBank is the club with the most medals from the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship since the re-establishment of the competition in 2010. The event had previously taken place in 1991, 1992 and 1994.
VakifBank General Manager and VakifBank Sports Club President Abdi Serdar Üstünsalih emphasises the role played by the organisation in the promotion of women’s sport and Turkish women on the international stage. “'Our club, which we established in 1986, today runs the world’s largest Volleyball school. Our bank’s corporate investment in Volleyball is the cornerstone of our sports history,” he said. “Our primary goal is to show the strength of Turkish women and to set an example for the younger generations. We pursue the mission of growing our players and contributing to the success of Turkish sport. We prepare our girls for social life and help them on their way to success. What we really want to show is not only the success of VakifBank, but most of all the success of Turkish women as well. As VakifBank, we support Turkish women until the end. We will never give up on this.”
