Adin Cojocaru elected Romanian Volleyball Federation President
News from the National Federations
Bucharest, Romania, October 5, 2020. The General Assembly of the Romanian Volleyball Federation took place this past September 30 at the Izvorani Sydney 2000 Olympic Complex. The programme of the meeting included elections for the presidency as well as for the members of the Board of Administration, with four candidates standing for the top job - Adin Cojocaru, Gheorghe Visan, Oana Sarb and Mihai Duta, with Ms Sarb and Mr Duta both withdrawing their candidature shortly before the actual vote took place.
Mr Cojocaru eventually received a large majority of the votes (109), thus replacing Mr Visan at the helm of the organisation after a tenure that lasted for 16 years. Visan received 42 of the votes cast by the delegates in attendance. Ms Sarb and Mr Duta will be serving as Vice-Presidents of the Romanian Volleyball Federation for the next four years.
“I will be a partner to dialogue with for all affiliated clubs,” Mr Cojocaru said after the election. “I will support them, and I will do everything to increase the value of our beloved sport. Volleyball needs the involvement of all stakeholders.”
Together with Serbia, Bulgaria and Croatia, Romania are due to co-host the next edition of CEV EuroVolley Women in the late summer of 2021.
