Dr Ferenc Kovács to lead Hungarian Volleyball family for another five years
News from the National Federations

Budapest, Hungary, September 7, 2020. The elective General Assembly of the Hungarian Volleyball Association (MRSZ) took place this past weekend at the University of Physical Education in Budapest. The attendees unanimously approved the financial and activity reports for the year 2019 as well as the plans designed for 2020. Moreover, they approved two of three proposed amendments to the statutes of the organisation. Dr Ferenc Kovács will remain at the helm of the Hungarian Volleyball Association for another five-year term, with members of the Board of Administration and the Supervisory Board elected as well.

Before working through the agenda of the assembly, Krisztián Kulcsár, President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, addressed the audience expressing his hope that the re-scheduled Olympic Games will be taking place in Tokyo next year. He claimed his conviction that the excellent cooperation developed between the National Olympic Committee and the Hungarian Volleyball Association in recent years would continue in the future as well.

MRSZ Secretary General Zsolt Ludvig presented the financial and activity reports concerning 2019 and the plans for 2020, with the 60 members of the assembly approving these unanimously, as they did with the report of the Supervisory Board as well.

After the presentation of the analysis on the operations of the Association made by Price Waterhouse Coopers, the discussion switched to the proposed amendments to the statutes. The delegates unanimously approved the first two of three proposed changes – namely the replacement of the General Assembly by a Delegated Assembly and the deletion of the various committees from the Statutes and the competence of the Board of Administration to set up and abolish such committees.

After that, it was time for the elections. The only candidate running for the presidency, Dr Ferenc Kovács received full support from the attendees in a public vote. As many as 14 candidates ran for a position in the 10-member Board of Administration, with Ildikó Ancsin, Ádám Baran, Balázs Buday, László Kárpáti, Lajos Németh, Péter Tálos, Péter Varga and Csaba Weczera receiving the needed 50% support right by the first round of votes. Thereafter, Ferenc Orosz and Márton Sarlós were the last two candidates to join the Board after a second round of votes took place.

Finally, the Assembly elected the chairperson as well as a new member of the Supervisory Board (the third member, László Barta, remained in his position). As a result, the former member of the Supervisory Board, Márk Hetényi took over the position of chairperson, with Dr Dalma Fekete joining this body as well.
