Winners of Armenian Youth Championship crowned in Yerevan
News from the National Federations

Yerevan, Armenia, August 8, 2020. After four days of intense competition, the 2020 edition of the Armenian Youth Beach Volleyball championship ended on Wednesday, August 5, at Grand Sport Complex, Yerevan.

The competition, with all games streamed online, accounted for some interesting and closely fought matches. A very impressive number of players competed for the men’s title, with Arman Miskaryan and Razmik Hakobyan (FIMA-1) using their experience to emerge as the eventual winners. Samvel Ghasaboghlyan and Ashot Balabekyan, aka Youth-1, secured second place, with Khachatur Asmaryan/Vahe Nazaryan (Youth-2) completing the podium.

Diana Melkumyan and Mary Poghosyan, representing the Avan club, claimed top honours from the women’s competition at the end of a truly exciting tournament. The team of Geghashen (Arpine Badalyan/Sona Hayrapetyan) finished second, with Anna Galustyan/Ofelya Matosyan, aka Team Van-1, in third.

The Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) presented the top three teams with cups, medals, diplomas and other gifts. Since June, the VFA has hosted an impressive number of Beach Volleyball domestic competitions despite the restrictions still in place to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus, thus providing local players with opportunities to perform and improve their skills at least on home sand.
