Record-breaking numbers at Kosovo’s U20 Beach Volleyball championship
News from the National Federations
Pristina, Kosovo, July 31, 2020. The 2020 edition of Kosovo’s U20 Beach Volleyball national championship featured a record-breaking 35 participating teams – with 19 women’s duos and another 16 men’s tandems vying for home glory. It was the second age-group competition hosted by the Kosovo Volleyball Federation this summer – following the U18 event held this past weekend.
At Holiday Resort near Pristina International Airport, the players delivered two days of great competition, including the right share of adrenaline and joy.
Rinesa Hasani/Melirona Avdullahu, both representing the VC Kastrioti Ferizaj, won the women’s tournament, securing a 2-0 victory (21-15, 21-17) in the final against young talents Amela Llugaliu and Ereza Rushiti. Ermal Maliqi/Erion Bajrami were the eventual winners of the men’s competition after emerging victorious from a thrilling final against Ndrecaj/Arxhend Sopaj (2-0; 21-18, 21-19).
All Beach Volleyball activities in Kosovo have been taking place following the necessary steps and recommendations issued to prevent any further spread of the novel coronavirus.
The Kosovo Volleyball Federation had planned to deliver U22 and ‘senior’ national championships as well, but the national government has decided to halt all sports activities in the coming days after a resurgence in the number of infections registered in the Balkan country.
