Greek Volley League ready to write history at Olympic indoor hall
News from the National Federations
Athens, Greece, June 28, 2020. The countdown to the semi-finals and finals of the men’s Greek Volley League has officially started at the Olympic Indoor Hall in Athens. The Greek professional championship will be one of a very few across the globe to complete the 2019-2020 season and the only indoor team sport in Greece to crown a champion resuming action after the coronavirus crisis. Olympiacos PIRAEUS, Foinikas SYROS, PAOK THESSALONIKI and Panathinaikos ATHENS are the four teams that will battle for the title from the 52nd edition of the national league.
Two months after the quarantine in Greece ended, the Hellenic Volleyball League with the support of the relevant national authorities (Secretary of Sports, General Secretariat for Sports), the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, public broadcaster ERT, sponsors, athletes and coaches is ready to write history.
It is the second time in history that the largest indoor sports facility in Greece will host Volleyball matches. The first was for the Final Four of the 2009 CEV Volleyball Cup hosted by Panathinaikos and won by Russia’s Lokomotiv-Belogorie BELGOROD (see picture above).

According to the health protocol, a maximum 130 people will have the right to enter the Olympic Indoor Hall, including players, referees, journalists, photographers, television technicians, executives of the organising committee and healthcare workers.
ERT will broadcast all matches live nationwide. The semis follow the best-of-three format as per the below schedule (all times are local):
