Volleyball is back in Kosovo with addition of unprecedented TV exposure
News from the National Federations

Pristina, Kosovo, June 17, 2020. The Kosovo Volleyball Federation (KVF) has been able to resume activities after the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health of the Balkan country approved the return of competitive Volleyball, starting with the playoff matches of the men’s and women’s national league.

The KVF has taken all necessary measures to safeguard everyone’s health and well-being, providing clubs with sanitisers, masks and other personal protection equipment as specified in the guidelines released by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Kosovar authorities have decided that all matches have to take place behind closed doors and only match officials and other necessary support personnel are able to attend the games on site.

The return of competitive Volleyball this past weekend coincided with a great performance delivered by the top four teams in each gender. All games started with observing a minute of silence, thus paying tribute to the victims of COVID-19.

Despite the lack of spectators inside the arenas, the Kosovo Volleyball Federation has made sure Volleyball fans will be able to stay close to their favourite teams by signing the most important TV rights agreements in the history of the sport in the Balkan country, involving two giant media companies.

The public service broadcaster Radio Television of Kosovo (www.rtklive.com) will be producing and televising the women’s playoffs, while the private cable pay-per-view platform Art Motion will air the men’s matches.

Therefore, Volleyball becomes the sport with the second most extensive TV exposure in Kosovo after football, with the men’s and women’s national leagues accounting for as many as 100 hours of live coverage nationwide!
