Dutch national team players give clinics for SchoolVolley+

Utrecht, the Netherlands, May 27, 2020. The coronavirus crisis has provided professional Dutch Volleyball and Beach Volleyball players with an opportunity to commit to helping out at schools across the Netherlands. In a project run under the slogan SchoolVolley+, the Dutch Volleyball Federation Nevobo is offering free Volleyball clinics to schools and after-school care during the crisis. The aim of SchoolVolley+ is to relieve those institutions during such difficult times and to ensure that children stay active. The first such clinic took place on May 12 under great media interest, with international Robin de Kruijf stealing the show.
With the SchoolVolley+ programme, the Nevobo embraces primary education. Sports associations and organisations have the strength to work together with education on a more healthy society. Moreover, a healthy society is less vulnerable in the current corona crisis. Now is the time to show what sport can mean for the community.
SchoolVolley+ offers Volleyball activities after school on school squares, lawns, parking lots and / or sports accommodations. These can be regular Volleyball clinics, if a (beach) volleyball court is available but even without a field, Volleyball-related exercises and games can take place in the schoolyard.
Trainers from the Nevobo, clinic organisers and Volleyball professionals from clubs are involved. Moreover, all of the Dutch national team players will be a part of this programme. Therefore, it just might happen that Laura Dijkema, Nimir Abdel-Aziz or Alexander Brouwer show up at a school to play Volleyball with the children.
Professional teachers and local sports coaches can also work independently with the exercises and games made available by the Nevobo. Over 50 schools and after-school care facilities have applied for the delivery of a clinic during the remainder of the school year.
