EEVZA Executive Committee holds virtual meeting to discuss post coronavirus plans
News from the Zonal Associations
Riga, Latvia, May 7, 2020. While the coronavirus pandemic has brought competitive sport to a standstill across the globe, the members of the Executive Committee of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) convened via teleconference earlier this week to discuss and devise plans for the future.
This year’s EEVZA General Assembly was due to take place in early April in Tallinn, Estonia, but restrictions imposed by national authorities to curb the spread of the novel virus have resulted in postponing the meeting until further notice.
On Wednesday, May 6, EEVZA President Vladimir Patkin, Vice-Presidents Irakli Chachua and Mykhaylo Melnyk and Secretary General Inara Brokane reviewed last year’s activities and approved a number of documents relating to the organisation of future zonal Snow and Beach Volleyball events.
The members discussed the delivery of planned Volleyball and Beach Volleyball competitions as well, acknowledging that they will be taking further decisions depending on how the situation with the pandemic evolves across Europe, doing so through monthly online meetings and after consulting with the respective member Federations.
Moreover, the ExCom emphasised the importance of using these times of lockdown to focus the organisation’s work on development and educational activities.
